The full description
Retinaldehyde sits one conversion step from retinoic acid, which makes it more efficient than retinol and gentler than a prescription. It is also badly heat-sensitive, which is why so much of what is sold as retinal underperforms by the time it is opened. This one is encapsulated and filled at 4°C.
0.1% retinaldehyde is buffered with 0.5% bakuchiol and 1% ceramide NP, so the peeling phase most people expect is shorter and milder. It is still a real retinoid: expect an adjustment period. Net contents 30 ml (1.0 fl oz), opaque airless pump, fill date on the base.
Suited for
The look of fine lines, texture and congestion. Skin already used to a retinoid.
Not for
Pregnancy or breastfeeding. Do not use with 5010 on the same evening. If you are new to retinoids entirely, this is a strong place to start.
How to use it
- 01Evening only, on clean dry skin. Never in the morning.
- 02Two pumps for the whole face. More is not faster; more is just irritation.
- 03Follow with 3010 or 3020.
- 04Start twice weekly for two weeks, then every other night, then nightly if comfortable.
- 05Sunscreen the following morning is not optional with a retinoid.
